If you’re expecting some tale about a gifted child prodigy, or a girl born into poverty whose only escape was music, or anything of that nature which you would usually find in a story like this one about a musician or an entertainer, you won’t find it here.
I haven’t been singing since I could talk (not that I’m aware of), I've never slept with my guitar (although, I probably should; I'd be a much better musician), and I still have my day job: playing princess at kids’ birthday parties. What?! For real.
I am not that which dreams are made of; I am not the picture of success... yet. I'm getting closer.
And as I like to say, if you can’t climb over the walls that hold you back, you break them down. You decide to make your own opportunities and quit relying on fate, luck, or fairy Godmothers to give you those chances. So, here I am... in all my glory or lack thereof, wrapped in melodies, lyrics, and heart (glass slipper not included).
10 Fun facts (if you're bored and have nothing better to do)...
- I like oldey-timey things (and I especially like saying "oldey timey").
- If you must make me a birthday cake, I prefer chocolate with white sugar icing. Store-bought is perfectly acceptable.
- Michael Scott was, most definitely, the world's best boss. I miss him a real lot.
- Speaking of comedy, I love improv. I take classes from time-to-time at Upright Citizens Brigade.
- I also love dashes... and elipses; semi-colons, too.
- Breakfast sandwiches are my krypotonite.
- Speaking of breakfast sandwiches, if you want to bring me one, it better come with an iced venti skinny caramel latte. Please!
- My favorite musical theatre actress is Susan Egan. I was lucky enough to meet her in a karaoke bar a few years ago. After I stopped crying hysterically like an insane fan girl, we sang a duet: The Rainbow Connection.
- I also met my boyfriend in that karaoke bar.
- I have a parrot that talks and dog that does tricks. I refuse to have anything but talented pets.
